A&M Consolidated Class of 1994 10 year reunion ('94)

Well, this weekend, Saturday the 16th, is the Consol class '94 10 year reunion. I am playing a quartet gig that evening, so I won't be going (especially not at $65/head for what appears to be a last minute outsourced operation). I may try to slip in late.

Still, it is enough to stir lots of memories in my brain, and I woke up from two high school reunion dreams this morning:

In the first dream, I was walking down a hall (via email, no less), and Mitzy Hill was there directing traffic. I had received what appeared to be a typical spam email inviting me to, instead of walking down the hall (to the reunion) to join some membership. Well, Mitzy was weeding out folks walking down the hall and even doing a little persuading without revealing the real plot-- I bit the bait, and there, downstairs in the basement was "the real reunion" (of everyone who didn't want to pay the $65 ticket but who just wanted to see everyone else again). It was great to see some old faces: Kent Harms, Jackie Fritz, Laura Penson, Miles Becker (hmm.. Steven Bates wasn't there, but I've been wanting to track him down since he moved in elementary school-- guess my dream machine is pretty accurate with its roster), and lots of other really familiar faces. There were also many many people I didn't recognize. And Bryan Wills' hair was died a dirty yellowy-blond (??). Interestingly, even those with whom I was relatively close throughout school didn't really give me the time of day..

Steadily, the room emptied as the people proceeded to some afterparty (the location of which I was not informed because I wanted to see so many people that I couldn't spend enough time with any one person). In the end, there were a few committee members cleaning up and there was one kid whom I'd never seen before totally cast aside. I approached him and we talked: we joked about the popular kids and where they are now; we talked a little about our lives today.. It was pleasant: a real face in the crowd, and we enjoyed a little conversation together. And then I woke up.

Since I wasn't late enough for work yet, I hugged my dear wife Julia and drifted back to sleep.

The following dream was also reunion style-- this time out in the woods somewhere. I saw the "cs-crew" here hanging out by some old gas pumps and old antique cars. When they saw me approach, they kind of turned inward, away from me. So I thought it would be cute to pretend to be bashful and allow them to invite me into their conversation. Well.. ha.. Instead, Robin pulled a big crocodile dundee style knife out and rotated it menacingly in the air at me. Sarah had one, too, and before I knew it, the whole crew was ready to attack-- Julia and I darted off into a building with the whole crew close on our tails, and their knives were throwing knives as well! Somehow, I secured a big blade for myself, Julia went straight and through a door, and I shifted off downstairs where I was confronted by Reuben wielding a double-butterfly knife. I was like, "what the hell?" and we started into a knife fight.

Quickly I awoke and realized this was one of those dreams not worth continuing. Craziness..
